Dune by Frank Herbert | ***** | Somehow I made it out of a very nerdy childhood without reading Dune. Perhaps I was always put off by the size of it. Reading it now, I wish I'd stuck it out earlier. It's a marvelous book in a fully-realized fictional world with something very important to say about the actual world we inhabit.
